A select few of us (6) turned out for this task at Tunman wood. The task
was to open up an area of woodland to allow more light in and encourage the
bluebells that struggle to grow in the wood. The temperature was close to
freezing but the skies remained clear all day so we worked on the edge of
the wood and made the most of the sun’s rays.
Delphine soon got a bonfire going which kept the cold at bay. We were
cutting off lower branches and coppicing a few hazels to open up the area.
The conditions were ideal for scrub clearing, cold enough to make you want
to keep working, but dry and sunny.
