Scotgrove Wood, 6 March 2011

A welcome return to this Forestry commission woodland near Bardney.  We continued our work opening up the grass verges along the edges of the rides to encourage the wild flowers and insects.

There was a healthy turnout of 20 of us, so we were able to spread out along the track and work on 2 areas with 2 bonfires to remove the cut material.  Half of us completed the clearing of the crossroads area in the centre of the woodland, while the other half continued along the track, cutting back material that hadn't been cut for a while.  The weather was kind to us and remained dry and even sunny at times, a sharp contrast to our last visit before Christmas when there was plenty of snow.
