Lincoln Conservation Group:

 Scotgrove Wood, 15th March 2009

Our third visit to this Lincolnshire limewood this season.  Fourteen of us turned out for what was a beautiful, warm and sunny day, perfect early spring weather.

We set to work on creating another clearing further into the woodland, with a nice big bonfire to remove all the material. The deep, water filled ditches that proved a hazard on last months site, were also present here.  Those with previous experience had brought wellies this time round, but there were still some wet boot fulls by the end of the day!

The trees, mainly birch and willow, fell thick and fast and were soon cleared away, leaving another open area into the side of the woodland that will hopefully encourage wild flowers and insects.
