Lincoln Conservation Group:

Scotgrove Wood, 16th December 2007

A return to this 'Limewoods Project' woodland near Bardney.  Not the most attractive woodland we work in (not at the worksite anyway), but plenty of good size trees to tackle.  The aim is to clear the banks either side of the entrance track to encourage the growth of woodland flowers.

Seventeen of us turned up and we set to work continuing the clearance of the banks and cutting a couple of scallops into the side of the main woodland to open it out and encourage more woodland edge plants.

The weather was grey but dry and a good bonfire kept the cold at bay.  A supply of mince pies left over from the Christmas party also made for an enjoyable tea break.  Towards the end of the day, the skies cleared, just in time to see the sun heading for the horizon.  This did mean we could get a bit more work done before the light started to fade and we left Steve to keep an eye on the fire.
