Lincoln Conservation Group:

Hartsholme Country Park, 6th June 2010

This task nearly didn’t happen.  At 10 o‘clock the 10 volunteers were all sitting in cars waiting for the downpour to stop.  Fortunately at around 10.30 it did.

Special thanks to Julian who cycled out to the task, got completely drenched in the process and who had to return home to dry out.  Thank you for the effort made!

We got 10 new steps installed, re-using the first and third steps that were still OK.  We also cleared some gorse that was encroaching onto the footpath that ran along the top of the area we were working in.

To be honest that’s about it!  Everyone seemed to enjoy themselves, as is usually the case.  The wardens at Hartsholme park were pleased with what we achieved.  Thank you to all who helped.  Apparently the steps that we were replacing were installed by us a number of years ago.  Hopefully the new ones will last another good many years and when expired, will provide us with another task to do in a few years to come!
