Lincoln Conservation Group:

Hartsholme Country Park, 17th August 2008

This was a sort of combined green open day and conservation type task as we joined in Hartsholmes Sunday event.  We spent the first part of the morning setting up our display boards under a cosy gazeebo ready to publicise the activities of our group.  Alongside, there was another stand set up to allow kids to build their own bird and bat boxes to be put up around the park.

There were 7 of us, with Richard turning up for the afternoon shift. While we left 3 to man the stall and box building,  the rest of us headed for the acid grassland area to continue the never ending task of pulling up the invasive Rosebay Willow herb.  This was a sort of green day event as well, with an opportunity for the public to join in as well.

I cant say there was much interest from the public, who were out in reasonable numbers, but the weather stayed dry and occasionally sunny, and we managed to bag up over 20 sacks of weeds to stay the encroachment.
