Lincoln Conservation Group:
How to join in

It's easy, just come along to any of the volunteer workdays in our programme. You don’t have to make a long-term commitment – just try a workday and see if you enjoy volunteering with us.
We provide tea, coffee and biscuits as well as work gloves, safety glasses, and tools.

First of all … Contact the leader for the day (the contact person listed in the programme) to let them know you will be joining the workday. They will give you information about the day, including transport. They need to know who’s going so they take enough tools and refreshments.
Getting there... We do like to share transport if possible, so the leader will try to arrange a lift to the site if you need one.
You can of course also make your own way to the site (directions in the programme) but do let the leader know you’ll be going in case of any last minute changes.
Times … We meet on site at 10am and usually work until about 4pm (a bit earlier in winter), with a lunch and tea breaks.
What to bring...

Packed lunch and soft drinks.
Waterproofs or a hat and sunscreen (depending on the weather).
Boots or wellies.
Wear clothes you don't mind getting dirty.

New to conservation…?

We give on-site training in the safe use of tools and in nature conservation techniques, and usually pair a new volunteer with an experienced member of the Group to ensure that you work safely and enjoy the day. You should have had a tetanus vaccination.

Need more information...? More information can be found in our volunteer handbook, available as a pdf below. Once you have tried a few tasks and feel you want to get more involved, everything you need to know can be found in the handbook.

LCG Meetings

We also have a meeting on the last Tuesday of every month - to talk about things like funds, future tasks, and social events - at a changing location, usually someone's house. All volunteers are welcome; details of exactly where and when are circulated via our e-mail list just before each meeting.
